Climategate Crooks Recast Themselves As The Victims

Written by Paul Joseph Watson
December 3rd, 2009

In a pathetic effort to make the climategate scandal go away, the crooks involved in manipulating data to "hide the decline" in global warming are recasting themselves as the victims of the whole affair, attempting to shift the blame to criminal hackers who stole data, when all the evidence suggests the CRU emails were leaked from the inside.

War of numbers, How the American Meat Institute uses "Trends" Rather than Real Factual Numbers

Written by Steve Bjerklie
December 3rd, 2009

In several recent public appearances, executives with the American Meat Institute, including president and chief executive officer J. Patrick Boyle, have stated that the prevalence of E. coli O157:H7 in beef products is going down, and they’ve used data from the Food Safety and Inspection Service and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to support the claim. Using test data from the F.S.I.S., the A.M.I. has in particular emphasized that from 2000 through 2008, E. coli prevalence in ground beef dropped 45%, suggesting the beef industry’s various efforts to control the pathogen have been effective.

How the sustainable local food movement neglects poor workers and eaters

Written by Caitlin Donohue
December 3rd, 2009

On a sunny afternoon in Civic Center Plaza, a remarkable bounty covered a buffet table: coconut quinoa, organic mushroom tabouli, homemade vegan desserts, and an assortment of other yummy treats. The food and event were meant to raise awareness about public school lunches, although it was hard to imagine these dishes, brought by well-heeled food advocates, sitting under the fluorescent lights of a San Francisco public school cafeteria. The spread was for the Slow Food USA Labor Day “eat-in,” a public potluck meant to publicize the proposed reauthorization of the Child Nutrition Act, national legislation that regulates the food in public schools. The crowd was in a festive, light-hearted mood. There was a full program of speeches by sustainability experts and a plant-your-own-vegetable-seeds table set up in one corner of the plaza.

Man controlled robotic hand with thoughts

December 3rd, 2009

A group of European scientists said Wednesday they have successfully connected a robotic hand to an amputee, allowing him to feel sensations in the artificial limb and control it with his thoughts. The experiment lasted a month, and scientists say it was the first time a patient has been able to make complex movements using his mind to control a biomechanic hand connected to his nervous system.

The Era of the Dollar Carry Trade

Written by Ian Mathias
December 3rd, 2009

The Aussies made it official early this morning… if it wasn’t already, the dollar carry trade is on. The Reserve Bank of Australia hiked its main interest rate yet again today, up another 25 bps, to 3.75%. That’s the third rate hike in as many months for Australia, which is enjoying a healthy consumer comeback and many of the spoils of the China boom. Whether the Aussie economic comeback is legit or not, there’s now at least a 3.5% spread between interest rates in the U.S. and down under. If you desire a strong dollar, that’s not good.

Boy, two, is snatched by social workers after mother refused doctor's advice to feed him junk food

Written by Chris Brook
December 3rd, 2009

Like many toddlers, Zak Hessey was a fussy eater who refused his mother's healthy home cooking. Concerned about his falling weight, his parents sought the advice of doctors. That simple act triggered a shocking chain of events that led to the youngster being put into foster care for four months. Paul and Lisa Hessey believe in the long-term benefits of healthy eating and rejected advice to feed their two-year-old son high-calorie snack food such as chocolate, crisps and cakes.

7 stories Barack Obama doesn't want told

December 1st, 2009

Presidential politics is about storytelling. Presented with a vivid storyline, voters naturally tend to fit every new event or piece of information into a picture that is already neatly framed in their minds.

No one understands this better than Barack Obama and his team, who won the 2008 election in part because they were better storytellers than the opposition. The pro-Obama narrative featured an almost mystically talented young idealist who stood for change in a disciplined and thoughtful way. This easily outpowered the anti-Obama narrative, featuring an opportunistic Chicago pol with dubious relationships who was more liberal than he was letting on.

Financial Crisis: Dubai Bubble Burst

December 2st, 2009

You know about Dubai's economic crisis. But do you know the background to - and fallout from - the crisis?

Viscount Monckton on Climategate: ‘They Are Criminals’

Written by Christopher Monckton
December 1st, 2009

This is what they did — these climate “scientists” on whose unsupported word the world’s classe politique proposes to set up an unelected global government this December in Copenhagen, with vast and unprecedented powers to control all formerly free markets, to tax wealthy nations and all of their financial transactions, to regulate the economic and environmental affairs of all nations, and to confiscate and extinguish all patent and intellectual property rights.
